Que estoy tan liada con la vida en Vancouver, con Roc, con la casa nueva, con las entrevistas, con las traducciónes… que se me olvida hasta que tengo un blog! Un blog nuevo y estupendo gracias a Alex Miras.

La última entrevista en la que estoy trabajando es la de Annie Sprinkle y Beth Stephens, que con su proyecto de Sexecology, están llegando a las conclusiones que llegan la mayor parte de los entrevistados de este libro: la maternidad consciente es sexualidad gozosa es transfeminismo es ecología es espiritualidad y magia. Hacía un nuevo paradigma.

El origen de la obstetricia

Hunter y Smellie han pasado a la posteridad como los padres de la obstetricia. Sus precisos dibujos anatómicos sobre el embarazo establecieron la base de esta disciplina. En 2010, una investigación del historiador neozelandés Don Shelton destapó cómo éstos podrían haber matado a unas 32 mujeres inocentes entre 1750 y 1774 en Reino Unido para diseccionar sus úteros y realizar atlas anatómicos completos hasta el noveno mes de gestación. En su investigación, Shelton trata de demostrar a través de datos demográficos y de diarios médicos que es imposible que Hunter y Smellie pudiesen dibujar con tanta precisión atlas de mujeres embarazadas, ya que era un perfil de cadáver difícil de encontrar en aquella época.

Ancient moon priestesses were called virgins. ‘Virgin’ meant not married, not belonging to a man – a woman who was ‘one-in-herself’. The very word derives from a Latin root meaning strength, force, skill; and was later applied to men: virle. Ishtar, Diana, Astarte, Isis were all all called virgin, which did not refer to sexual chastity, but sexual independence. And all great culture heroes of the past, mythic or historic, were said to be born of virgin mothers: Marduk, Gilgamesh, Buddha, Osiris, Dionysus, Genghis Khan, Jesus – they were all affirmed as sons of the Great Mother, of the Original One, their worldly power deriving from her. When the Hebrews used the word, and in the original Aramaic, it meant ‘maiden’ or ‘young woman’, with no connotations to sexual chastity. But later Christian translators could not conceive of the ‘Virgin Mary’ as a woman of independent sexuality, needless to say; they distorted the meaning into sexually pure, chaste, never touched.

No respetar la identidad de género o la necesidad de un niño o niña a expresarse con respecto a su identidad es una violación de los derechos de la infancia, así como el artículo 10 de la Constitución sobre el libre desarrollo de la personalidad. A menudo se esgrime que tenemos que impedir que los jóvenes expresen su identidad discordante, por el propio “bien del menor”, que es un argumento para aplicar el castigo o enviar al menor a una terapia reparativa, para que sean “como debe ser”. Esto es terrible, porque estamos mandando un mensaje muy claro de que la persona está enferma, es errónea, está mal y no es querible. Esta respuesta negativa tiene un impacto brutal en su vida y en la relación que construye con su familia y su entorno. El bien del menor supone acompañarle en su crecimiento, ir probando y dejarle expresarse.

Here there is an article about parthenogenesis, that does´t get the point at all. Virginity does´t implied asexuality for ancient goddesses!(It just implied that they were not having a penis inside their vagina) On the contrary, they conceived through magical and sexual rituals. Somehow like Buddhist tantra.
Yes, they had to be virgin, but this was not «enough», and this virginity could somehow be renewered. They were wise powerful women.

A suite of seven large-scale screen prints. Each work depicts a still image, taken from a vast library of home-birth videos posted internationally by women on the internet. The images are screen-grab close-ups of women’s faces exhaling and reclining at the moment the baby crowns, as well as wider views of this moment revealing the women’s euphoria in their domestic spaces. The works featured in YouTube Series appropriate and re-present these women’s filmed experiences and connect to a wider international concern with social media as a tool to democratise what can often be tightly controlled and censored experiences. I have created each print by using a pioneering method of exposing the screen with a digital projector. A technique I devised, which relies on an analogue understanding of the photographic process but results in a pixelated image which directly references the technological origin of the source material.
